The Haworth Art Gallery has a number of fun, creative and cultural events planned across the summer from July to September.

Summer Events at the Haworth Art Gallery

Lots to see and do at the Haworth Art Gallery over the Summer holidays - you can choose from exhibitions, camera clubs and cultural conversations, to workshops and free arts club sessions for kids.

Exhibitions

1/6/2024 – 14/7/2024 – Accrington Camera Club Retrospective

This year sees a break with tradition as members select prints from their own archives which demonstrate their interests, and expertise in developing technologies.

27/7/2024 – 15/9/2024 – David Youds

David Youds presents the first solo exhibition of his work. This exhibition of new work is inspired by the people and places in and around Hyndburn.

27/7/2024 – 15/9/2024 - Unlocked: A Celebration of Recovery Journeys in Secure Mental Health

The Unlocked project is part of a wider initiative within the Guild Lodge NHS facility, Lancashire, to promote the benefits of art on mental health and raise awareness and understanding of complex mental health conditions.

21/9/2024 – 6/10/2024 - Black Artisans

The Black Artisans showcases and celebrates established UK based Black Artisans through a travelling photography exhibition. This exhibition will also feature the heritage crafts the artisans make using skills that are at risk of being lost.

- Join us for Heritage Open Day, this year’s theme is Routes – Networks - Connections.

Accrington Camera Club – Meet the Artist

07/07/2024 - Harry Emmett CPAGB 

Harry presents a selection of prints charting his membership of the club over five decades. 2pm to 2:30pm

14/07/2024 – Stories from the Stores 

– Join the Friends of Haworth Art Gallery as they share objects and stories of Accrington’s past. 1pm to 3pm

25/07/2024 – David Youds and Guild Lodge Exhibitions

- Preview. 6pm to 8pm

Unlocked Workshops delivered by Guild

Lodge NHS Facility staff – booking recommended

Join artists Cassandra Batterby and Mark Love creating artworks with limited materials, and using a range of techniques.

  • Wednesday 31st July, 1 – 3pm
  • Wednesday 14th August, 1 – 3pm
  • Wednesday 21st August, 1 – 3pm
  • Wednesday 4th September, 1 – 3pm

Free Family Art Club

– Every other Sunday, 1pm to 3pm

  • 14th July - Make fantastic, fantasy flowers
  • 28th July - Create a fishy mobile inspired by Haworth Art Gallery’s aquamarine vase
  • 11th August - Create your own pop-up paper peacock
  • 25th August - Design and make your own windmill
  • 9th September - Make a finger puppet and a funny face & feet bookmark
  • 22nd September - Create a September brooch to welcome in
  • the harvest
