As part of Heritage Open Days 2024, join our very own NWCN chair Donna Claypool for a FREE talk on the importance of Bolton Museum’s extensive pattern book collection, and her journey from Manchester Craft and Design Centre to Programme Leader in Textiles and Surface Design at the University of Bolton.
Donna will explore the importance of Bolton Museum’s extensive pattern book collection, complete with original artworks, and translate this archive into human experience. Throughout the talk, you will learn about Donna’s journey from designer-maker at the Manchester Craft and Design Centre to Programme Leader in Textiles and Surface Design at the University of Bolton.
Donna’s PhD highlights the significance of the Joseph Johnson collection a Bolton-based mid-century woven furnishing fabric company housed within the Bolton Museum Archive. Through her creative practice, Donna examines the value of this archive for its insight into objects and patterns, and as a reflection of designs for mid-century domestic interiors.
