Digital Lancashire
Digital economy in Lancashire
BackA not-for-profit community interest company dedicated to accelerating the digital economy in Lancashire.
Our aim is to help professionals and businesses like you thrive and grow by providing the support, benefits and opportunities to fulfil your potential. By joining Digital Lancashire you’re joining fellow professionals to give our sector and the county a bigger voice and help create, deliver and provide more valuable resources – talent, buildings, infrastructure, training and more – to work with for your benefit.
The ambition of Digital Lancashire is huge. For too long our many great digital businesses, our superb universities and the brilliant people in them have been hidden away. Not only do we want to shine a light on them regionally, nationally and internationally, we want to help them be the best they can and at the same time show them that Lancashire is a great place to work and live.
How We Happened
Just over three years ago a group of digital business owners gathered together, with the support of Lancashire County Council, to discuss how our rapidly growing sector could be better supported and represented in the county and beyond.
We realised that we shared many common challenges, such as finding people with the right skills; accessing good training, events and apprenticeships; keeping skills in Lancashire; greater recognition for the superb work, achievements and job creation Lancashire digital businesses are making in the sector; and more widely helping to improve best practice.
As a result, we’ve formed Digital Lancashire, a not-for-profit CIC (Community Interest Company), as a self-funded membership and support organisation overseen by a board of volunteer directors.
Already we’ve made great progress by meeting with lots of potential stakeholders including universities, colleges, local authorities, skills boards and the digital businesses who’ll be at the heart of what we do. Most importantly we’ve been successful in securing funding from Lancashire County Council to give us the initial kick start we need to make a big impact on the sector.
