The Creative Accelerator is a new programme supporting and mentoring emerging talent to develop professional elements of their burgeoning careers. The programme has been developed by artists and creatives for artists and creatives. It will bring together a group of creatives to work in The Making Rooms, Blackburn (www.makingrooms.org). It will support you to develop key areas of your practice through a series of workshops, practical activities and live projects.
You will get a shared studio space, opportunities to hear from and work with industry experts, free machine hire within The Making Rooms and a materials budget. The programme includes training workshops, delivered by professionals in the creative sector. All learning will be underpinned by practical experience. These valuable additions to your CV will stand you in excellent stead as you begin to apply for work.
The programme will finish with public work and an exhibition.
There will be two programmes that will run consecutively. September 2020 - February 2021 and February 2021 - July 2021.
We are looking for applications from new, emerging and early stage creatives. That means that you are in the first stages of your creative career, you may have just graduated from University or may have come to creativity through a different route.
Either or a variety is applicable. All we are asking is that you have been working professionally for less than 2 years or are about to take your first steps into the creative world of work.
There are no fees associated with this programme and participants are expected to support themselves financially throughout. You will be coached and supported to find creative work to contribute towards this as a live project in sourcing funding and sponsorship. There is a small materials budget.

The deadline to apply for the first programme is 9am, July 13, 2020. Application dates for the second cohort will be announced later in the year.
