Peter Mileham DL OBE

Deputy Lieutenant of Lancashire

Peter Mileham was born in Scarborough Yorkshire and on leaving full time education joined the Shepherd Building Group of York. After qualifying as a Quantity Surveyor he relocated in 1970 with the company to the North West. In 1974, having a taste for business, he joined Liquid Plastics Limited of Preston, then in its infancy, manufacturing specialist coatings for the construction industry. Over the ensuing years Peter has held a number of top posts in sales, marketing and international trade within the organisation, which by then, had grown to five companies comprising the Iotech Group. As a main Board Director Peter played a leading role in the development of the group to its current international and market leading status, retiring in August 2009 when the group was sold out to Sika of Switzerland.

Over the past 15 years Peter has served on the Boards of the North and West Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, North West Chambers of Commerce, being President and Vice President respectively, and was National President of the British Chambers of Commerce between 2006 and 2008. In this capacity he promoted international trade, visiting fourteen countries during his presidency, two of which, India and China, were as part of the Prime Minister's delegation.

In 2005 Peter was appointed local chairman of the Yorkshire Bank's Preston Financial Solutions Centre and was appointed Chairman of the Northern Transport Commission set up the Conservative Party when in opposition to determine how the northern economy could be improved with a better transport infrastructure. Additionally Peter is also a member of the All Party Corporate Governance Group and is Citizens in Policing Ambassador for the Lancashire Constabulary. He is also an Ambassador for the Rosemere Foundation, a cancer care charity, based at the Royal Preston Hospital.

Peter is a Deputy Lieutenant of Lancashire and was High Sheriff of Lancashire in 2011-2012. He is an Honorary Fellow of the University of Central Lancashire.

In the 2016 Honors List Peter Mileham was awarded an OBE for services to the community in Lancashire.
