Creative Lancashire in association with Burnley Creative Alliance present a day of CPD sessions designed and delivered by David Parrish, a specialist business adviser and trainer for creative, digital and cultural enterprises. The sessions are aimed at artists, freelancers and other creative business practitioners.

The Creative Marketing workshop provides participants with powerful marketing techniques and tools so as to improve the marketing of their creative businesses immediately.

A powerful and practical workshop on strategic marketing for businesses at all stages. The workshop explores some of the most powerful marketing techniques from David’s strategic marketing book. The workshop is designed for the needs of creative businesses in a range of creative industries subsectors.

Workshop Objectives:

By the end of the one-day workshop, participants will:

  • Understand the main concepts used in strategic marketing and operational marketing.
  • Have used the Precision Marketing model to align the 3Ms of Marketing: Market, Message and Medium.
  • Understand the importance of listening to customers and learn cost-effective ways of doing this.
  • Examine and evaluate different promotional and advertising techniques appropriate to their business.

Designing Your Creative Business

The Designing Your Creative Business workshop concentrates on developing a business strategy to make the most of your creativity in relation to competitors and markets in a way that is consistent with your overall aims and values.

Workshop Objectives:

By the end of the one-day workshop, participants will have:

  • Defined business success in their own terms in relation to creativity, lifestyle, profit and values.
  • Used techniques to understand their own competitive advantage in relation to other creative businesses.
  • Examined external forces in a systematic way to identify potential opportunities for their enterprise.
  • Developed a unique business formula that brings together specific aspects of their creative potential with suitable customers.
  • Devised action plans to achieve their business objectives.

David Parrish is a specialist adviser for creative businesses and works internationally as a creative industries management consultant, trainer and speaker. Workshops are highly interactive and involve participants in sharing their own experience and learning from each other as well as from the presentations and written materials.

The day is divided into two sessions tailored to the specific needs of creative and cultural enterprises. The Fired Up workshops are free to attend but pre-registration via Evenbrite is essential.

The workshops are FREE to attend. However, pre-registration is essential via the Eventbrite Page. Please only apply for a place if you can definitely attend as places are limited.
Tea, coffee and soft drinks provided. Lunch is not included.
Attendees can bring their own lunch or enjoy the Simply Classic Burnley Mechanics Bistro, serving a range of hot and cold meals and snacks between 11 – 3pm. Many other options are also available in Burnley town centre just a minute away.

About David Parrish
David Parrish works internationally as a specialist creative and cultural management consultant, trainer and speaker, David has a background in setting up and managing arts organisations. He has developed arts organisations using business techniques that fit with their mission and values. As managing director of Password Books Ltd, a book marketing/distribution company for small literary publishers, he expanded the company internationally. After learning from practical experience in the cultural sector, he graduated with an MBA, ‘with distinction’, from Bradford University Management Centre.
