Lancashire’s leading national and international position in relation to aerospace, advanced engineering and manufacturing, energy, higher education institution excellence and visitor economy make it a pivotal part of the long term economic growth of the North.

With a population of 1,462,000, covering 1,200 square miles, Lancashire generates a £29 billion economy supporting over 600,000 jobs. Boasting spectacular scenery and a breath-taking coastline the tourism sector for Lancashire currently generates £3.45 billion, supports 55,000 jobs and attracts 60 million visitors.

Building on this strong tourism foundation, the vision for Marketing Lancashire, which was formed in April 2011, is to be an ambitious and forward thinking organisation supporting the communication of Lancashire as a recognised national leader in economic development. Led by a commercially astute Chief Executive, Marketing Lancashire will play a central role in driving the place marketing and growth agenda in partnership with the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership, Lancashire County Council, other local authorities and private sector partners.

Requiring strong internal leadership and an external focus, you will lead the organisation as it develops from a tourist board to the Destination Management Organisation for Lancashire with its new broader remit to achieve more proactive communication and promotion of economic development and investment in the county on a regional, national and international scale.

With a track record of building strategic relationships, developing new income streams (particularly with the private sector) you will need to have a strong understanding of key financial business drivers and be a motivational leader.
